The Blackview BV9900E\u00a0is considered by some to be one of the most recommended rugged phones in the mid-range, and that is a perception with which we can agree, as it is a very solid device (literally and figuratively) in the range of 200-300 euros.\u00a0To show a button, the device boasts IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810G certifications, which attests to its resistance to the elements and falls.<\/p>\n

The interesting thing does not end here, as the device is defended with respectable hardware thanks to the Helio P90 chip, about 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, not to mention that it has a 48MP + 16MP + 2MP quad rear camera. +0.3MP.\u00a0It is also worth noting that this mobile phone boasts a heart rate sensor and a configurable multifunction button, and those are small details that we do not see every day, not even in higher-class conventional devices.\u00a0It is for this and other reasons that today we will delve into the offer of this device.<\/p>\n

Likewise, we can recommend the\u00a0Blackview BV9300\u00a0for those looking for a high-end rugged device with extraordinary battery life.<\/p>\n

A shielded phone<\/h2>\n

In terms of design, this device has all the properties that we would expect from a mobile phone that is classified as rugged.\u00a0In this sense, it is built from a\u00a0solid metal frame\u00a0and features an impact-proof liquid silicone back, not to mention that it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and raised edges that protect the screen of direct falls.<\/p>\n

When detailing it carefully, we can see the typical power and volume buttons on the right edge, but there is more, a fingerprint reader makes an appearance here and does not share its location with the power button.\u00a0On the bottom edge there is a USB-C port trimmed under a rubber cover\u00a0;\u00a0Next to it is the phone’s microphone and speaker, which exhibits high volume, but not necessarily very good sound quality.<\/p>\n

On the left side is the hybrid slot for SIM or Micro-SD cards\u00a0, but even more interesting is the presence of a multifunction button, which can naturally be configured to open certain apps or phone tools.\u00a0On the back are the cameras and the flash, although obviously what stands out the most is the optical heart rate reader that can be seen at the bottom.<\/p>\n

Having said all that,\u00a0the manufacturing of the Blackview BV9900E earns it IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810G certifications\u00a0, which guarantees that it is a tough device to crack.\u00a0For starters, it can be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, withstand drops from 1.5 meters high, and survive extreme temperatures ranging from -30\u00b0C to 55\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

In terms of dimensions, it is a compact device compared to other rustic mobiles, but very bulky compared to a standard telephone.<\/p>\n

Screen<\/h2>\n

On the front it has a\u00a05.84-inch IPS panel with FHD+ resolution\u00a0(1080*2280), density of 432 pixels per inch and a conventional 60Hz refresh rate, as this mobile precedes the trend of high refresh rates and its focus is elsewhere (resistance and usability in difficult conditions).<\/p>\n

Obviously it is a screen with thick bezels and a quite noticeable notch for the front camera, but it is understandable coming from a rugged device.\u00a0What is not so easy to overlook is that the brightness is not high enough to use it outdoors without problems.<\/p>\n

Hardware and features<\/h2>\n

Under its resistant exterior lies a Helio P90\u00a0chip\u00a0, an old acquaintance from the mid-range that comes in the company of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (you can add a Micro-SD of up to 128GB).\u00a0As you will see, it is not a winning combination, but hardware is rarely the priority in rugged phones, especially when we talk about lower-mid-range models.<\/p>\n

Be that as it may, this device obtains\u00a0almost 195,000 points in the AnTuTu benchmark\u00a0, and being familiar with its processor, we already have a good idea of \u200b\u200bwhat to expect.\u00a0In this sense, the Blackview BV9900E has what it takes to offer a fluid experience in the most popular applications and social networks, it can even move titles like Call of Duty Mobile at more than 30 FPS with the graphics on high;\u00a0Just don’t overload it with tasks or try to play very demanding games, because inside it is more of an entry-level terminal by modern standards.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, a\u00a04,380mAh battery\u00a0powers the set and should have enough for a full day of use.\u00a0It is a little below the current battery average, that is true, but even more criticizable is the fact that the charge is only 18W, not fast at all.<\/p>\n

At the connectivity level we have to inform that it does not have 5G, only what precedes it, although naturally it also\u00a0supports GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and even NFC\u00a0for contactless payments.<\/p>\n

In terms of software, the Blackview BV9900E works with\u00a0Android 10\u00a0with a minimally retouched interface and some junk apps installed, but that is not the problem, but at the time of publishing this note Android 14 is already close.<\/p>\n

Cameras<\/h2>\n

The main camera of the Blackview BV9900E is made up of a\u00a048MP Sony IMX582 sensor accompanied by a 16MP ultra-wide angle\u00a0, a 2MP macro sensor and a 0.3MP depth sensor.\u00a0For its part, the selfie camera is 16MP.<\/p>\n

Its photographic quality is the same as we could expect from a 250 euro mid-range today, which translates into good shots during the day, but poor quality when it gets dark.\u00a0In this sense, if the light favors us we can expect photographs with plenty of detail and natural colors, although with a mediocre dynamic range.\u00a0In low lighting, not even the night mode prevents the appearance of noise and the loss of details.<\/p>\n

In video recording it is a similar story, although perhaps worse, since electronic image stabilization does not help at all to achieve a shake-free image.<\/p>\n
